Simple Summer Wreath

My door has been naked for far too long. And if the saying “your front door sets the tone for your entire house” is true, well my door was in desperate need of a wreath.

I love beautiful wreaths, but every time I find one that I love, I about have a heart attack when I look at the price tag! I am not willing to pay $100+ for a seasonal wreath regardless of how beautiful it is. This is the reason my door has remained naked for so long –  the long, unfruitful, never-ending search for a nice seasonal wreath. Well enough is enough. Especially because I don’t have a particularly nice looking front door.

I went to the local craft store and bought some clearance artificial greenery and flowers, plus a grapevine wreath base. Grand total? $10. Now that is a price I can live with. The process was a little messy, but it was quite simple, and very easy to make look decent. Like any new experience there was a bit of a learning curve, but all in all I think it turned out pretty well considering it is my first wreath.

You will need a grapevine wreath, seasonal floral and decor, scissors, and a hot glue gun. I figured out immediately when I started cutting  the flowers that they were wire based so I needed some wire cutters. I had them readily available, but keep that in mind if you don’t have any. You may need to purchase some. Also, instead of using hot glue you always have the option of  floral wire. I completely forgot to get some at the craft store, so hot glue was my best friend. But, the hot glue worked really great! Just use what you have, or what you want to work with.

First I cut apart the floral clusters to make more reasonably sized and workable pieces. Then I just went to town hot gluing floral pieces into place; gluing pieces evenly spaced around the entire wreath. Once completely covered in floral material, I added a few leaves randomly just for a little pop of green.

Voila!! There you have it. My super simple DIY summer wreath. I hope this helps you to create a warm and inviting front entrance that sets the tone of your wonderful home!!
